EMPHASIS ON COLLABORATION

Make an appointment
WE EMPHASIZE TRUST, RESPECT, PROFESSIONALISM, AND COMPASSION WHEN WORKING COLLABORATIVELY WITH IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN OUR PATIENTS LIVES.
With the patient's or the guardian's consent, we keep individuals that are important to our patient's lives up-to-date with the patients' progress in order to effectively implement his/her treatment plan. Our clinicians are committed to creating a warm, safe, and hopeful therapeutic environment and encourage patients to access their own strengths to develop new skills in managing their anxiety, mood, and behavioral difficulties.

Schools

When necessary and appropriate, our clinicians welcome the opportunity to inform the school (i.e., teachers, counselors) about the specifics of the child/teen's symptoms and what they can do to help their student succeed in the classroom. Our clinicians are open to attending Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 planning meetings at the school, as well as communicating with school personnel on behalf of the patient and his/her family regarding recommendations and accommodations. Our clinicians help identify goals for the child to work on in the form of a "Daily Report Card".  In-services are also offered to surrounding schools to help educators identify and understand anxiety and depressive symptoms in their students.

Parents, spouse, other family members

Consultation with parents, spouses, or other family members is not unusual in treatment. This may be done in the form of family therapy sessions, parent/spouse/family member-only sessions, and/or phone consultations. Although consultation with family is most commonly used when working with clients who are minors and emerging adults (see more about how we provide specialized parent training), it may also be relevant and appropriate when working with adults. These consultations have the goal of educating the family on the model of CBT as well as the relevant disorder(s), reducing accommodations made by the family, helping them learn behavioral modification strategies to use with the patient, and teaching the family how to implement relevant strategies for further symptom reduction.

healthcare providers

Consultations regarding treatment plans and progress of treatment with allied health providers, including psychiatrists, physicians, neuropsychologists, social workers, counselors, etc., is a regular part of our practice. We strive for continued communication with these providers to ensure continuity of care for our patients.

clergy

We offer consultation with priests, pastors, and other clergy to those who suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in the form of scrupulosity and religious doubt. We work with your priest, pastor, and/or advisor to help him/her understand cognitive behavioral interventions that are most helpful for this disorder and how best to support you during treatment, while taking careful consideration of your values and beliefs.

hair and skin care providers

Consultation with hair and skin care providers regarding cognitive behavioral interventions is offered when a patient presents with trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder) or excoriation (skin picking) disorder.

social / protective / housing / health / safety services

Occasionally, consultation with these service agencies is necessary. Our clinicians consult with personnel from these agencies regarding the assessment of risks as well as the development and implementation of interventions for patients with hoarding disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), or other anxiety, mood, and/or behavioral problems.
